Quinta do Casal Branco The Tejo region - named after the Tagus river that flows through it. Famed for its superb value for money and sizeable production. The town on Almeirim is the home of Quinta do Casal Branco and their 1,100-hectare estate, of which 199 of those are vineyards. The region boasts some of the oldest vineyards & winemaking traditions in Portugal; the Tartassians were making wine here 2000 years ago. Quinta do Casal Branco winey itself dates to 1817 and the estate was founded in 1775.
Quinta do Casal Branco make modern wines with both shelf & table appeal. ‘Peter & the Wolf’ is an example of superb modern presentation that lends itself to casual dining and a glass at the bar. The more traditional wines under the Quinta’s name are food-friendly, critically acclaimed, and ideal for the restaurant wine list.
Responsible for these wines are Manuel Lobo and Joana Lopez. Both critical to the process and who work in perfect harmony to create wines that receive domestic and international recognition.
Do you buy your wines based on awards? If so, Quinta do Casal Branco has them in abundance. Take their flagship Falcoaria Grande Reserva as an example, the current vintage 2018 has picked up gold medals from Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and the Portugal Wine Challenge, the latter a Premium Gold. Robert Parker awarded it 89 points and the recognition doesn’t stop there.. Their Falcoaria wine has won ‘Best White Wine in Portugal’ in previous years and their red has recently won gold from Concours de Bruxelles, again receiving 89 points from Robert Parker.
