A successful second year at LIWF

The LIWF 2012 was again a great success, with almost all of our winery partners taking part on the stand and many of them making the trip over to man the stand and chat to new and existing customers. The show was smaller than last year and visitor numbers lower than usual, however the quality of the visitors was excellent resulting in many new business leads. This year we were extremely lucky because there was an empty space next to our stand which had not been booked, so we were offered a stand extension free of charge. Our stand grew overnight, but in hindsight we did need the extra room with so many great wines on show.

Here are some photos of the stand from the three day show.

London Wine Fair 2012

For the second year running we have a stand at the LIWF, however this year it is even bigger and undoubtedly, even better! At 35 square metres we will have almost all of our wineries present, showing an eclectic mix of thier wines. The partners who will be present are;

From Portugal; Falua, Duorum, Joao Portugal Ramos, Sanguinhal, Casal Branco, Lusovini, Quinta de Sant'Ana, Sabe, Quinta Nova

From Spain; Valsanzo, Arroyo Family vineyards, Monte la Reina, Adegas Altameira, Arribes del Duero

From Brazil; ViniBrasil

Shows, Shows and more Shows...

So it's been a while since we have had a chance to blog on the website, purely because we have been so busy! 2012 began with a bang and already we are in April, where does the time go?

In February Cube Communication were announced the new UK office for Wines of Portugal, they are an excellent company with a great track record already in the wine industry. We got to know the team when they were organising the Tesco Wine Fairs last year, and they are a great bunch. The first Wines of Portugal show took place in February at Lords, and saw a record turnout of Portuguese producers and the new POS looked excellent. Here are some photos of the day.

The next big show was the Annual Wines of Spain show at Old Billingsgate, this was a great event and we showed our modest Spanish range including our educational brand Spanish Steps. Here's a photo of our stand - we managed to misplace our new banners we had created so it was a bit bare - but less is more I say.

The Next show we attended was Prowein in Dusseldorf. Nick has visited before but for Charlotte this was a first, it was huge and the wine choice was out of this world. We had a lot of our producers from both Spain and Portugal exhibiting, and also our Brazil partners ViniBrasil. The show was spectacular, here are some photos from the days we were there.

All in all it's been a very busy year so far, but we are not complaining. Nick and Janes trip to Brazil blog will be coming soon so watch this space.....

Three Wine Men Tasting

This weekend was the Three Wine Men tasting at Lords cricket ground and it was a very successful event! Olly, Tim and Oz were on top form and it was an interesting day for both exhibitors and guests. We had a stand at the event, table 8 backing onto the cricket pitch view, it was a great spot and we were even equipped with santa hats. Charlotte came as a visitor with her partner Simon to have a jolly day out, but also to try a varied array of wines. Quite often when exhibiting you can be stuck behind your table and miss a golden opportunity to taste some fantastic wines. Olly Smith's wierd and wonderful wines masterclass was absolutely brilliant, he was very enthusiastic which always rubs off and Charlotte & Simon thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Here are some pictures from the day;

Authentic Wine

I was invited last night to the book launch of Authentic Wines, co-authored by Jamie Goode and Sam Harrop MW, both of whom I know well.  We had a great meal at the Artisan and Vine near Clapham Junction, and a highly interesting tasting of 8 wines - four of which were supplied by Doug Wregg of Caves de Pyrene, and another four by David Gleave MW, of Liberty wines.  Doug's were from the 'authentic' stable, and really quite a challenge to those with a palate for the mainstream.  David's were more conventional and to me, more enjoyable.
