MOR Valley, Regua, Douro

José Pinto is a hard-working agronomist who has been making wine all his adult life.  He studied at the University of Tras os Montes e Alto Douro in the northeast of Portugal and also spent time on Terceira island in the Azores.  With 12Ha of his own, plus contracts with growers owning more than 100Ha, he is capable of producing plenty of good wine.

He keeps his operation deliberately small, working with just his wife Urania Clemente from a small Quinta just north of Peso de Regua, in the small hamlet of Loureiro. He hopes to be joined in the future by his two teenage sons Gonçalo and Tomàs.

He makes two ranges of wines.  MOR Valley is his flagship range, and Vale de Escadas at the more competitive end of the market.  All the red wines are characterised by their rich flavours & blueberry fruit;  the whites by their combination of weight, freshness and complexity.

MOR Valley red
